Lizz vanWilgen Smith MSPT
Lizz believes in a holistic approach to wellness and incorporates both Eastern and Western disciplines into her practice. With an extensive background in health and rehabilitation, and over 25 years of experience in traditional and non-traditional methods of physical therapy, Lizz specializes in orthopedics, treating patients with muscle imbalance issues, overuse injuries, post operative treatment and preoperative preparation. In recent years, her focus has been in expanding her manual and alternative techniques by becoming full body certified in Active Release Technique, cupping (moving and stationary) and aromatherapy. Lizz utilizes a combination of manual therapies, therapeutic exercise and re-education in a one-on-one personalized setting to maximize results for her clients.
Prior to starting a private practice in 2004, Lizz held several positions at the renowned Hospital for Special Surgery, including opening their Integrative Care Center on Madison Avenue. Prior to that, she was at Bellevue Hospital in New York City, treating severe trauma and at Spaulding Rehabilitation in Boston in their spinal cord, amputee and head injury department.
Lizz received a BS in Health Science and a Master of Science in Physical Therapy from Simmons College.
